Undoubtly, MAR CHIQUITA coastal Lagoon is the most suitable scenario for Fly Fishing the large flounders that inhabit the lagoon.
Many times, thanks to its crystal-clear waters along the year it allows us to make sight fish. Fly fishing flounder is a relatively new modality in Argentina with results that never cease to amaze us!
The lagoon which was declared a World Biosphere by UNESCO in1996 is located in the Mar Chiquita district, province of BuenosAires, Argentina.
In the letters, the Lagoon appears as enlarged mirror of water parallel to the Argentine Sea of the Atlantic Ocean and whose separation is handled by a chain of high dunes. The lagoon widensand makes up a real interior sea, giving explanation to its name.
We will have different alternatives or fishing situations inthe Lagoon. We will move in our boats to the fishing points, where we will make wading fishing surrounded by “polychaetes” (corals that are in the lagoon), ideal place where flounders camouflage better and wait for their prey to pass.
On the shores side banks there will be a different water structure due to the formation of higher currents.
A guide will be assigned every two o three anglers to accompany them interesting. Many times, depending on the Lagoon conditions we will have the possibility to make sight fish fishing or capture other saltwater croaker, blue fish, mullet, among others , which makes fishing sort of more fishes that enter the estuary in search of food like white croaker , black throughout the day.
In this area we can find flounder that can weigh 24 or 25 pounds. Fishing in the Lagoon will allow you to enjoy days surrounded by many different blackberry bird, storks, seagulls, and ducks among others.

The recommended equipment to use inside the lagoon are those that go from. #6 to #8, floating line and 8′ wound leader
made with 0.40 monofilament and finished in 1′ tippet of 0.40 monofilament.
✔️ Waders
Wading boots, windbreaker, Cap, Glasses.
✔️ Flies:
Clousser minnows style in red, green, chartreusse and white with a length between 11 cm and 13 cm. Tied on #2/0 or #3/0
hooks. This style of flies, by weighted and inverted, help us not to have so much hookup with the corals.
